ProsEdit

Assault

An Assault using the Fly skill cannot be assassinated. Following him until the skill expires is not usually recommended, as he will be shooting you while you follow him. Assassins can also dodge Charges much more easily than other classes thanks to their speed, if you see an Assault charging; dash in another direction. That said, do not approach an Assault head-on because his Charge (and especially his Charge 3 Grapple) can trump anything you do and is usually deadly. Also keep your ears open for the distinct beeping of Bombs. Lastly, the Assault Rifle does more damage when you're closer to it; so be careful when going for an assassination.

Tank

Tanks have the highest defense of all classes, but are almost always the slowest; use this to your advantage. Even with maxed out Skills, an assassination will never fully kill a Tank. After performing an Assassination, either attack with your sword/dagger immediately; or use your Smoke Bombs to escape; the Tank's Jet Gun is extremely powerful at close range, and it causes damage over time along with rendering your cloak useless due to the flame over your head. Watch out for the Death Blossom (spin attack), because it will set you on fire, along with being hard to jump over. Deployed Tanks can't be assassinated, and their backpack jets or their Jet Gun will kill you before you can kill them in melee, so make use your Shuriken Launcher. Taking on a Tank with a friend who is using another light class (Assault or Support) usually results in a victory over the Tank.

Support

Supports working on Turrets may be too busy to notice you, setting themselves up for an Assassination, though a good Support will always be on the lookout for Assassins, so if he takes out his Shotgun, he is already on to you. Flank him if you don't want to be introduced to it, because it can take you down in a few direct hits. And watch out for Supports near their Firebase. Once you make a move on the Support, it will make a move a usually-lethal move on you. Supports escorting a Tank or Gunner are among the most difficult because they'll be on the lookout for Assassins and will have the assistance of heavy firepower nearby.

The Hurt/Heal Gun cannot damage you when you're cloaked. It will, however, inform the Support that you're there if you're in front of him. Firebases can be stunned with your Smoke Bomb, and taken out easily from behind unless they're Overhealed or maxed out. Also, the Support is an insta-kill from both sides with an assassination when your Assassin Skill is maxed out, so don't worry about running around him to assassinate him and grapple away.

Assassin

Other Assassins are just as deadly as you. Don't assume you're the best one around. If you have a dagger and the Assassin has a sword, do not fight her unless you can get behind her, (likewise, the situation is much different if your opponent has a dagger and you have a sword). Assassins can't see your cloak any better then other Pros, but that also means you can't see theirs, so keep an eye out. The Shuriken Launcher can be more deadly then most people assume, and is especially deadly on stationary targets. The Assassin is an insta-kill from both sides with an assassination when your Assassin Skill is maxed out. If you're not maxed out, watch out for Assassins with at least a Silver Armor Endorsement; they can survive a front Dagger grapple at full health and can return the favor.

Gunner

The Gunner's minigun causes more damage at close range. Be wary when attempting an assassination, though it is helpful that they are one of the slowest Pros. The Gunner's slam will slow you down at early levels, but a well-timed smoke bomb will still allow for a quick escape. You could also jump over the slam as you would with a Jackbot, but practice is recommended. Deployed Gunners cannot be assassinated, and their backpack jets or their Minigun will kill you before you can kill them in melee, so use your Shuriken Launcher. Gunners can fall victim to Shuriken surprisingly well if they're not perceptive enough to move out of the way.

vs Icemen Sniper Portrait
Sniper

Snipers are an Assassin's favorite target. They have low health and defense and are preoccupied with aiming down their scopes to notice you sneaking behind them. All these factors make them an easy kill. Snipers with an SMG out should be avoided until they switch weapons. Follow them in the shadows until they do. Watch out for Traps, as they will make your Cloak useless until you're free, and they'll make you a sitting duck when upgraded. Snipers are an insta-kill from both sides unless they have at least a Silver Armor Endorsement (then they can survive a front Dagger grapple at full health, allowing them to counterattack), so grapple them when they least expect it.

BotsEdit

Match-up Strategy
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Slim
Slim
  • Slims are an insta-kill from any attack. Lunging is a good way to clear small clusters of them.
  • Keep Slims away from the Moneyball; they do more damage to it than you.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen BlackJack
Black Jack
  • Attack from behind and the process should go smoothly.
  • In Crossfire, enemy Black Jacks will usually be preoccupied with your Bots allowing for easy kills.
  • Black Jacks can also be assassinated.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Bouncer
Bouncer
  • Bouncers can't grapple you if you Cloak.
  • Shurikens can be used at distance to soften them. Don't try to go toe to toe if it's fixated on you; it can outfight you at melee range. On the other hand, slashing it while it's preoccupied with another target can help keep your team out of trouble.
  • Your best technique against a Bouncer is to assassinate it; this always destroys it.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Buzzer
Buzzer
  • A Buzzer won't target you if you're cloaked.
  • Shuriken are your only practical option barring a friendly turret; trying to slash one will only get you hit with the Buzzer's explosion.
  • Buzzers do a ton of damage to Turrets, Pros, and the Money Ball. Be on your toes.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Gremlin
Gremlin
  • Gremlins can cloak just like you. But not to as good of an extent. And they'll ignore you if you're cloaked yourself.
  • You can safely destroy a Gremlin with a lunge if you have a sword.
  • ShaveIce turrets can reveal a Gremlin quite well.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Gapshot
Gap Shot
  • Gap Shots are easily taken out once you get close. Sneak up, then lunge and slash to dispatch them quickly.
  • Shurikens don't do much against them.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Scrambler
Scrambler
  • Scramblers will suck up your cloak and all your skill if you get too close.
  • Shuriken are recommended, even if they don't do much damage. Don't attempt an up-close approach without a sword, as they can still fight back.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Icemen Jackbot
Jackbot XL
  • It normally takes two grapples to destroy a Jackbot; if the other team's Money Ball is exposed, only one will suffice. Jackbots cannot be backstabbed.
  • A Jackbot's slam will knock you halfway across the arena and slow you down. Be sure to jump to dodge it.
  • Jackbots will, like all bots, ignore you if you're cloaked. They will also ignore you if you're behind them. But not if you're causing damage.
  • Using the Annihilator followed by a grapple will kill a Jackbot quickly.

TurretsEdit

  • Smoke Bombs stun Turrets as well as Bots but only for a short time.
  • Let your Bots distract the Turret while you destroy it from behind. Smoke Bombs will make the process go a lot faster.
  • A good time to go after Turrets is when you're Juiced. Your speed can help you take out even multiple upper-level turrets.
Match-up Strategy

Assassin
vs Lazer Blazer Level 3 concept art
Lazer Blazer
  • Lazer Blazer turrets are easily taken out at low levels, however a level 3 turret is extremely deadly. Take out a level 1 turret quickly to avoid the threat.
  • Like all turrets, it cannot target you AND your bots. Let your bots distract it.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs RockIt Level 3 concept art
RockIt
  • RockIt turrets are deadly at any level, and are best taken out when a distraction is with you, bots or pros will work nicely.
  • RockIt turrets aren't stunned as long as other turrets when Smoke Bombed.
  • If you have to attack a RockIt (and RockIts guard each base at the start of a match), use the Shuriken Launcher from out of their range. If you have a level 3 Cloak, pop in and out to get the Critical Shot bonus. Take them out while they're still at level 1 and only a moderate chore. Taking out a level 2 is extremely time-consuming, and level 3 is best left to other Pros or a Juicing.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs ShaveIce Level 3 concept art
ShaveIce
  • ShaveIce turrets are the ones you should hate as an Assassin. They render your cloak useless when you're close. Even if they can't damage you.
  • Of course, most teams don't build ShaveIce turrets anyway. However, if they do; have a friendly Sniper take them out for you or use the Shuriken Launcher at distance.
  • ShaveIce have good armor, so destroying one at a distance can take time. Since they don't attack you directly, you can safely approach an unattended ShaveIce and slash at it until it's destroyed or you're forced to run.
Hotshot Assassin Portrait
Assassin
vs Longshot concept art
Long Shot
  • Long Shot turrets are unbearable because they can't be distracted. However, your cloak will allow you to not be targeted. And once you're close, Long Shots are easily dispatched with repeated slashing. Just watch out for Pros guarding the turret.
